A Towanda man has been charged for allegedly stealing a vehicle from All-Star Auto before the car dealership caught fire on Sunday. 32-year-old Christopher Stoudt was arrested by Towanda Police just after 7 o’clock Sunday morning and charged with receiving stolen property. He is currently in Bradford County Jail on $65,000 bail. About 90 minutes prior to his arrest, Vestal Police and Vestal firefighters responded to a fire call at the dealership on the Vestal Parkway. Through an investigation, it was determined that the business had been broken into prior to the fire. A vehicle was also discovered to be missing. Vestal Police had received a call of an intoxicated man who had reportedly jumped out of a vehicle traveling on Route 17 East near the Broome-Tioga county line. Police were unable to locate the man, but he was later found and identified by Towanda Police as Stoudt. They found him and the stolen vehicle with stolen license plates from the area near All-Star Auto. The Vestal Police investigation is ongoing in conjunction with the county’s fire investigation. Charges against Stoudt in relation to the burglary and fire are pending.
