Vestal Central School district has been awarded a grant to help with their youth literacy programs.
The Dollar General Literacy Foundation awarded a grant of just under $3,900 to the school district for the 2012-2013 school year. The grants are awarded to assist with implementing new or expanding existing youth literacy programs, as the money can be used to purchase new technology or equipment, books, materials, or software for the programs. In Vestal, the grant funds will be used to purchase nonfiction books for kindergarten students in five elementary schools across the district.
The new informational books will begin arriving in the classrooms this month.
