For the second time this year, the Vestal Volunteer Fire Department is trying to acquire a new fire truck. There will need to be public approval for the department to receive the vehicle. The Vestal Town Board approved nine bids on Wednesday night for a new fire rescue truck. In April, the department tried to buy a new truck, but the issue was defeated by a mere seven votes. This time, the prices for the trucks are lower, varying between $600,000 and $800,000. The department says it needs the new truck in order to better meet the needs of the growing Vestal community.
