From a fledgling Future Business Leaders of America chapter at Vestal High School comes a National FBLA competition winner. Alex LaClair, a junior, placed eighth in the category of Impromptu Speaking, at the National FBLA Leadership Conference in San Antonio, Texas, on Tuesday, July 2. Alex qualified at the New York State competition in early April.

A team of two Vestal High School seniors, Michael Bronikowski and John Li, also qualified at the NYS event by placing third in the category of entrepreneurship. They opted to attend their 2019 commencement ceremony rather than compete in San Antonio.

At the national competition, Alex competed against 120 students in the U.S. and around the world. Selected as one of 14 finalists, he continued on to the next level, securing eighth place.

“Alex deserves all the recognition for his hard work and dedication,” said Vestal HS FBLA advisor Annette Mezzadonna. “I feel very privileged to guide him and the FBLA students at Vestal High School.”
