Victim Identified in Conklin Shooting, Binghamton Man Jailed without Bail

At approximately 12:20 a.m. Friday, New York State Police at Binghamton responded to a report of a shooting at 1205 Conklin Road in the town of Conklin.  Troopers immediately located two female victims in the parking lot and rendered aid until members from Broome Ambulance and Superior Ambulance arrived.

Alison I. Salisbury, age 38 of Binghamton, was shot and wounded fatally. She was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Shannon E. Brooks, age 42 of Conklin, was shot in the hand and transported to UHS Wilson Medical Center, where she was treated and released.

The suspect, identified as Lance R. Johnson, age 45 of Binghamton, fled the scene in a vehicle.  A BOLO (be on the lookout) was dispatched over Broome County 911 and the vehicle and suspect were ultimately stopped by Binghamton police.  He was arrested and charged with Murder in the second degree and attempted Murder in the second degree.

State Police did not report the relationship between Johnson, Salisbury and Brooks. Police also did not report any details about what happened prior to the shooting.

The Broome County District Attorney’s Office recommended that Johnson be remanded to the Broome County Jail with no bail.  The investigation is on-going.


Update: New York State Police have arrested a Binghamton man in connection with the shooting of two women at an apartment complex on Conklin Road in the town of Conklin.

Lance R. Johnson, age 45 of Binghamton, has been charged with one count of Murder in the second degree and one count of attempted Murder in the second degree.

Johnson is accused of shooting and killing one woman. A second woman suffered a gunshot wound to her hand and was transported to UHS Wilson Medical Center.

Johnson will be transported to Broome County Central Arraignment and Processing.

Original release: New York State Police are investigating a reported shooting on Conklin Road in the town of Conklin.  The incident was reported at approximately 12:20 a.m., August 7. 

At this time, there is no threat to the public.  It is believed to be an isolated incident. The investigation is on-going, more will be released later.
