A wanted Binghamton man was arrested in Florida after evading law enforcement for over 5 months.
On Friday, February 23, 33-year-old Casey Lyons, of Binghamton, was arrested by the United States Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force in Volusia County, Florida.
Lyons was the Broome County Sheriff’s No. 6 Most Wanted fugitive and had been sought by deputies since September 2023 for Failure to Register Under the Sex Offender Registration Act, a Class D Felony. Lyons had been convicted of the charge two previous times and has now been charged a third time.
The Broome County Sheriff’s Warrants Division successfully developed information on Lyons’ location and coordinated with the Volusia County Marshals Regional Fugitive Task Force ahead of the arrest.
“Excellent work by our Warrants Division in successfully tracking another dangerous individual and coordinating with other agencies to get this person off the streets and into custody,” said Sheriff Fred Akshar. “My thanks to our partners in Volusia County for their help bringing this fugitive to justice.”
