A pair of local fire departments will be receiving federal funding for gear, training and supplies.
New York Senators Chuck Schumer and Kirsten Gillibrand have announced that the Whitney Point and Binghamton fire departments are among the fire departments in New York who will share $1.5 million in total funds.
The Whitney Point Fire Department will receive $167,000, while the Binghamton Fire Department is getting $68,000.
The funding was made available through the US Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency.
