Deputies accused the treasurer of a local fire company of stealing tens of thousands of dollars.
Members of the Broome County Sheriff’s Office took 58-year-old Terry Gow of Whitney Point into custody on Wednesday. According to the sheriff’s office Gow was the former treasurer of the Glen Aubrey Fire Company and embezzled roughly $30,000 which she used for personal expenses. The sheriff’s office says this is becoming more common within small organizations or businesses. They recommend having an annual audit done by an independent party. She was arraigned in Nanticoke Town Court on felony grand larceny in the third degree. She was released pending further court action.
