A Windsor man is facing multiple charges, including felony weapon possession, misdemeanor reckless endangerment and 20 traffic violations after recklessly fleeing the Broome County Sheriff’s Strategic Response Group (SRG) on a motorcycle through the Village of Windsor to Pennsylvania and back again.
On Saturday, March 29, 2025 at approximately 7:21 p.m., a member of the Broome County Sheriff’s SRG unit observed two motorcycles traveling south on Main St. in the Village of Windsor without license plates. After attempting a traffic stop, the motorcycles a failed to comply, attempting to evade patrols at a high rate of speed. The SRG patrol pursued one of the motorcycles throughout multiple roads the Town of Windsor and eventually into Pennsylvania.
Patrols pursued the motorcycle into Hallstead, Pa., before finally heading north on New York Ave./Route 7. Pursuit of the motorcycle continued through the Town of Kirkwood and Town of Windsor, where the operator continued his reckless riding, crossing over to the wrong side of the roadway and nearly striking an oncoming vehicle.
Eventually, the motorcycle returned to the Village of Windsor and traveled north on Route 79 before becoming disabled, at which point the operator, Kirk K. Wayman, age 25 of Windsor, NY, was removed from the motorcycle and placed under arrest. A switchblade knife was found on his person.
Following the investigation, Kirk K. Wayman was charged with the following:
– Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 3rd Degree (Previous Conviction), a Class D Felony
– Unlawful Fleeing a Police Office in a Motor Vehicle in the 3rd Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor
– Reckless Endangerment in the 2ndDegree, a Class A Misdemeanor
– Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 4th Degree, a Class a Misdemeanor
– 20 Vehicle & Traffic Violations
Wayman was processed at the Broome County Sheriff’s Office, arraigned at Central Arraignment Part and issued appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Windsor Court.
