Sergeant Ryan Yarosh Is Special Guest At State Of The Union Address

A war hero from Windsor was a special guest at Tuesday night’s State of the Union address. Each member of Congress is allowed to bring one guest to the State of the Union, and Republican Representative Richard Hanna invited 2000 Windsor High School graduate, and retired Army Sergeant, Ryan Yarosh. Yarosh survived major injuries while serving in Iraq, and he now serves as a motivational speaker. He was severely injured by an improvised explosive device, or IED, back in the fall of 2006. Following the explosion, Yarosh spent six months at the Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio. He suffered second- and third-degree burns to sixty percent of his body, and lost function of both of his hands. Now in his role as a motivational speaker, Yarosh has spoken to sports teams, schools, churches, military groups, and nonprofits. Hanna released a statement before the State of the Union, praising Yarosh for his enduring service to our country and his commitment to the community, saying he serves as an inspiration for us all.
