A woman was pronounced dead upon arriving at an area hospital, after fire crews saved her from a house fire last night in the Town of Dickinson. The Broome County Sheriff’s Office said the victim is Christine Clark. Deputies said a neighbor called 911 before 7 pm after seeing smoke coming from the home of 127 Adams Street. The first two deputies on the scene arrived within two minutes of the call. They tried to go into the home and save the woman but were overcome by the heat and smoke. When fire crews arrived, firefighters with their breathing packs were able to get the woman out of the bedroom. Clark was rushed to Wilson Hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival. Investigators said Clark was the only occupant of the home. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
