The Little League World Champions returned home to Endwell as conquering heroes today, with a parade to their baseball field on Struble Road. The Maine-Endwell team left Williamsport this morning and got an escort from New York State Police as soon as they crossed the border near Corning and all the way home. Locally, their parade was joined by police and fire departments as their bus made its way down Hooper Road, with plenty of fans lining the street, and more waiting at Struble Field to welcome home the 11 victorious players and three coaches. Maine-Endwell defeated South Korea 2-1 yesterday to win the Little League World Series. They are the first US team to win since 2011 and the first from New York to win since 1964. Video from today’s parade is available on the WEBO Facebook Page. Besides winning the World Series, the team also received the award for exhibiting the best sportsmanship at the tournament.
