A Chemung man has been charged with driving while intoxicated after a serious accident involving a golf cart last week in the Town of Chemung.
According to the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office, 25-year-old Joshua J. Davidson was driving a golf cart illegally at around 10:41 p.m. on Nov. 27 when a female passenger fell out of the vehicle and struck her head on the road. She was seriously injured in the accident.
Police said Davidson and the passenger were not wearing seat belts, and the driver was intoxicated at the time of the incident.
According to the sheriff’s office, the golf cart had been modified to operate at higher-than-normal speeds.
The female victim was taken to the Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre and remains in serious but stable condition as of Tuesday.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
