The Corning-Painted Post School Board approved three separate settlements for former students who said they were sexually abused more than three decades ago.

According to WENY-TV, the lawsuits were filed when New York State opened a two-year window for sexual abuse survivors to file civil suits long after the statute of limitations had expired.

The victims alleged the abuse happened while they were students in the Corning-Painted Post School District between 35 and 50 years ago.

The total amount being paid out to the victims is over $400,000.
