Corning woman charged with kidnapping, rape

A Corning woman is behind bars after she was caught with a missing teenager.

According to the New York State Police, 45-year-old Jolene Spaulding has been charged with felony kidnapping and rape along with misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.

Spaulding worked at a residential treatment facility for at-risk youth in Bath. She was placed on administrative leave on June 15 after facility administrators raised concerns about possible misconduct involving a juvenile resident.

The juvenile was reported missing from the facility on Wednesday. Police tracked the juvenile and Spaulding to a park in Corning, where they were taken into custody.

Spaulding was arraigned and remanded to the Steuben County Jail on $10,000 bail.
