Elmira City School District, local organizations team up to offer free summer meals

The Elmira City School District has announced that starting next week they will offer free summer meals for kids.

The summer meal program will run from Monday, July 8th through Friday, August 16th at multiple locations throughout the Elmira area.

You do not need to sign up for this program, just show up at one of the locations to receive a free meal for a child.

The following locations will participate in the program.

  • Thorne Street Park in Horseheads from noon to 1 p.m.
  • Katy Leary Park, lunch from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
  • Blandford Park in Elmira, lunch from 11:45 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.
  • Elmira High School, breakfast from 8 to 8:30 am and lunch from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • Southside Community Center in Elmira, snacks from 2 to 3 p.m. and dinner from 5 to 6 p.m.
  • Grove Park, lunch from noon to 1 p.m.

The Food Bank of the Southern Tier, Horseheads Family Resource Center, the ARC of Chemung and Schuyler Counties, and Catholic Charities and Partners are all supporting the program.
