A 31-year-old Elmira man was arrested after he allegedly assaulted an elderly woman in Southport.
According to the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office, Alexander Morales struck the 86-year-old woman in the face multiple times, giving her a black eye.
Police said Morales had been staying with the woman for several months before the incident.
Morales was charged with second degree assault and taken to the Chemung County Jail.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
