Elmira Man Arrested for Firing Shots into House

An Elmira man is facing several charges including attempted murder following a shooting incident that happened in July.The Chemung County Sheriff’s office says that deputies and Elmira police officers were called to Allen Street in Southport on July 2 for the report of shots fired.An investigation revealed that 27-year-old Wilfredo Maisonet fired shots at a home with two people inside.

Luckily, no one was hurt, but as the man left the scene, he fired several shots at two police officers.He fled the scene but was found in a small patch of nearby woods.The man was ordered to drop his loaded handgun, but refused and allegedly began pointing it at officers. That’s when an officer shot the suspect.He was not seriously injured, and was quickly taken into custody. It turns out the man was wanted for a Parole Violation, and is now additionally charged with attempted murder, attempted aggravated assault on a police officer, criminal possession of a weapon, and reckless endangerment.

He was sent to the Chemung County Jail on $500,000 cash bail, $1 million property bond.
