Elmira man indicted on attempted murder, weapons charges

An Elmira man has been indicted on an attempted murder charge and weapons charges in connection with a drive-by scooter shooting that occurred in downtown Elmira last fall.

According to WETM-TV, a Chemung County Grand Jury indicted 26-year-old Reginald McBride on the charges of second degree attempted murder and two counts of second degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Elmira Police said McBride allegedly shot another man on the 200 block of West Water Street at about 11 a.m. on November 27. The investigation revealed McBride was riding a motorized mini-bike when he shot the victim on the sidewalk.

The victim was in critical condition and taken to a local hospital after receiving emergency medical care at the scene.

McBride is being held at the Chemung County Jail.
