Elmira man sentenced to 25 years to life for second degree murder

A 30-year-old Elmira man has been sentenced for his role in the murder of Jeremy Shazer back in January of last year.

Shamel Swan was convicted last December of second-degree murder and criminal possession of a weapon for his role in the shooting.

Swan was sentenced to 25 years to life on the murder charge and 15 years on the weapons charge on Wednesday. The sentences will be served at the same time.

Four other people have also been charged in connection with the case.
