The Elmira Police Department is investigating a report of shots fired in the early morning hours on Wednesday.
Officers responded to the 400 block of West Third Street at around 4:50 a.m. on Jan. 1 for a report of gunshots.
Police spoke with witnesses who said they heard over eight gunshots in the area.
According to police, multiple shell casings were found at the scene and two homes and several cars had been hit.
There were no injuries reported as a result of the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
