Elmira PD: Person stabbed during massive fight on West Water Street

A person was stabbed during a fight involving almost 100 people in Elmira in the early morning hours on Sunday.

According to Elmira Police, the incident occurred around 1 a.m. with 75 to 100 people fighting on West Water Street.

One person was arrested during the incident for disorderly conduct after they were allegedly preventing an injured person from getting help.

Officers responded to South Main Street at around 4:45 a.m. and found a person who had been stabbed. Police said that person was stabbed in the back several times during the fight on West Water Street.

The victim would not cooperate with police and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The injuries appear to be non-life threatening.
