Elmira Police investigating multiple shooting incidents

The Elmira Police Department is investigating several shooting incidents over the last few days.

The first report of gunshots came in at around 11:30 p.m. on Sunday on Fulton Street. The shots were detected by the Flock Raven gunshot detection system. Police found no physical evidence of a shooting.

The second incident took place at around 12:30 a.m. on Monday on West Gray Street. The Flock Raven system once again detected the shots. Police found evidence of a shooting, including several spent shell casings and a home had been struck by a bullet.

There were no reported injuries from the incident.

On Monday evening, Elmira Police responded to two more shooting incidents.

According to WENY-TV, the first took placed at around 8:15 p.m. near Pulaski Park on West Center Street. Police cars and ambulances were at the scene. There has been no official word on any injuries.

Less than 10 minutes later, another shooting was reported near Maxwell Place and Oak Street. Eyewitnesses said at least two people were shot.

There has been no announcement on whether the two shootings on Monday evening are connected.
