An Elmira woman was arrested on Saturday night after she allegedly assaulted an Elmira Police Officer.

Officers responded to the Saint Patrick’s Apartments on Park Place at around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday for a report of people using narcotics in a common area.

While officers interviewed residents and guests in an apartment, they learned that 37-year-old Kasey Magar had an active warrant for petit larceny.

When attempting to arrest Magar, she allegedly resisted arrest and fled into her bedroom where she allegedly slammed the door in an officer’s face. An officer slipped on clothing that was on the floor and Magar allegedly hit the officer in the face and then placed a lit cigarette on the back of the officer’s neck, causing a small burn.

Magar was eventually arrested and charged with resisting arrest and second degree assault.
