The Elmira Corning Regional Airport is about to make traveling to Chicago much simpler. Two weeks after the airport announced new direct flights to St. Petersburg, Florida, administrators have now announced that beginning in February, United Airlines will provide direct flights to Chicago’s O’Hare Airport from Elmira. The service will begin with two flights daily headed for Chicago. Airline officials believe the area can support more than two daily flights to O’Hare, and depending on bookings for the new service, could add additional flights in the future. United Airlines operates about 570 daily flights from its hub in Chicago to more than 125 domestic and 30 international destinations. Travelers from the Elmira Corning Airport will be able to make connections to any of these flights through Chicago.
