Chemung County Sheriffs deputies have arrested a man for drug possession and promotion of prison contraband.
Eddie Coates, 19, of Elmira is accused of unlawful possession of marijuana.
Coates was released from Chemung County Jail on March 31st.
Shortly afterwards, Sheriff’s deputies found Coates trying to throw drugs and matches over the Chemung County Jail security fence to an inmate waiting on the other side.
Coates was arraigned in Elmira City Court and was sent to the county jail.
He is scheduled for a court appearance Monday.
