A fire broke out under the Clemens Center Bridge in Elmira on Thursday afternoon and forced the bridge to be shut down.
According to WETM-TV, the fire was coming from a homeless encampment on the north end of the bridge at around 2:45 p.m.
No one was found under the bridge and no injuries were reported as a result of the fire.
The City of Elmira announced on its Facebook page that the bridge would be closed to traffic following the fire. The city was waiting on state engineers to inspect the underside of the bridge for any damage to the supports.
