A gunshot detection system helped the Elmira Police Department make an arrest after shots were fired in the city on Saturday.
According to police, a report of gunshots came in at around 1:35 a.m. on Saturday in the area of Balsam Street and Broadway Street.
The city’s Flock Raven Gunshot Detection System, which uses artificial intelligence, alerted police of the shots and location.
Three people were taken into custody near Broadway Street and South Ave. A 9mm semi-automatic handgun and spent shell casings were recovered.
23-year-old Jaheim Brown was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree, loaded firearm; and criminal possession of a weapon in the third degree, defaced firearm.
