A group of hikers was rescued from the Watkins Glen State Park Gorge Trail following a landslide that occurred on Saturday night.
According to the Watkins Glen Fire Department, a report of people trapped on the trail near Medical Marker 13 came in at around 8:10 p.m. on Saturday.
A rescue crew confirmed that a landslide took place from the Lovers Lane Trail down to the Gorge trail and the hikers were trapped.
The hikers were safely removed from the area and brought to Lily Pond to be checked for injuries. No one was injured in the incident.
Multiple groups checked the rest of the park’s trails after the rescue and did not find anyone else.
Firefighters from Watkins Glen, Montour Falls, Odessa and Beaver Dams along with the Schuyler County Emergency Management Office, New York State Park Police and Watkins Glen Police responded to the scene.
