Investigators now say that the fire that caused an explosion at a Horseheads home Wednesday night was not caused by gas lines. The fire completely destroyed the home. The continuing investigation into the explosion indicates that the origin was a buildup of natural gas, resulting from the actions of the occupant of the residence. NYSEG tested the gas lines in the area and found that they were functioning fully and safely, and have been ruled out as a cause of the blast. 36-year-old Brien Marr lived in the home, and suffered non-life-threatening injuries. He was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester, and is currently listed in serious condition.
