The Chemung County Sheriff’s Investigator who was injured in the line of duty back in March has been released from a Rochester rehab facility to continue his recovery at home.

According to a post on his personal Facebook page, Investigator Mike Theetge will now be doing out-patient rehab as he recovers from what he called severe brain trauma.

He stated that he currently cannot hear out of his right ear and the entire right side of his body is numb.

Theetge thanked his wife and their moms for watching their kids and spending time with him at the hospital. He also thanked the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office and the community for their support.

Theetge was working retail theft prevention in Big Flats on March 29 when he was injured. The suspects in the case have both pleaded not guilty for their alleged role in the crime.
