The man involved in the hit-and-run incident that injured a Chemung County Sheriff’s Investigator last year was sentenced on Monday.

Dominick Haley was sentenced to 12 years in state prison followed by five years of post-release supervision.

Police said Haley attempted to steal $300 worth of items from Target on March 29th, 2024 and was being chased by the investigator when the two men jumped onto the hood of a car driven by Fatiuana Massaline.

The driver accelerated, throwing them both to the ground and causing the investigator to suffer a skull fracture and brain bleed.

Haley pleaded guilty to all charges on March 3rd.

Massaline was found guilty of assault of a police officer and second-degree assault for her role in the incident. She will be sentenced on May 19th.
