The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office has arrested 21-year-old Krissean Smith-Newhart of Jersey City, New Jersey. Officers were dispatched to a disabled vehicle on I-86 in Elmira. The operator of the vehicle gave deputies a false name. Smith didn’t have a driver’s license and after a short investigation, it was learned that the suspect was wanted in Texas for assault. In addition, the disabled vehicle had been stolen in Wilkes Barre, Pennsylvania. She was charged with Unlicensed Operation, False Impersonation and felony Criminal Possession of Stolen Property. She was arraigned in the Town of Elmira Court and remanded to the Chemung County Jail in-lieu of $10,000 cash, $20,000 property bond.
