The New York State Department of Corrections and the union announced a deal has been reached on Saturday, but some corrections officers are not happy with the agreement.

According to WENY-TV, corrections officers continued their strike on Sunday and called the deal a slap in the face.

The deal includes a temporary 90-day suspension of the controversial HALT Act as well as the formation of a committee to review the act to focus on the safety of staff and inmates.

There will also be changes to overtime, including a goal of eliminating 24-hour mandatory overtime.

The striking officers are not happy with the agreement and don’t believe it does enough to improve safety in prisons across the state.

They are also not happy with the state threatening to fire officers when negotiations are ongoing.
