One person was killed in a motorcycle accident in Horseheads on Thursday.
According to the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred on Interstate 86 West at the Exit 54 off-ramp to Horseheads and State Route 13 at around 5:30 pm.
First responders found a 2008 Kawasaki with extensive damage. The driver was found dead about 100 yards away from the bike.
According to police, the investigation revealed that the motorycle was traveling at a high rate of speed and swerving between vehciles prior to the crash.
The driver, who was later identified as 22-year-old Dakota M Keister, hit a guard rail and was ejected from the bike.
The New York State Police, Town and Country Fire Department and Erway Ambulance Service also responded to the scene.
