The third suspect and ringleader in a brutal 2021 torture and murder case in Elmira was sentenced on Friday.
Eddie Marte was found guilty of first-degree murder and kidnapping in March. On Friday, he was sentenced to life in prison for murder and 20 years to life for the kidnapping.
Marte and three others tortured and killed Juan Jose Gotay in January of 2021.
Thomas Bovaird, Malik Weems and Kavon Sanders were also involved in the crime and pleaded guilty to lesser charges for their roles in the case.
