Steuben County man arrested after allegedly throwing machete at state trooper

A Steuben County man is behind bars after he allegedly threw a machete at a New York state trooper last week.

According to police, 49-year-old Dana McCarrick has been charged with terrorism, menacing a police officer, criminal possession of a weapon, menacing, resisting arrest, and other related charges.

State police responded to a home on Gridley Road in the Town of Caton just after 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday. When troopers began questioning McCarrick, he allegedly grabbed a machete out of a box. He was ordered to put the knife down but refused and allegedly threw the machete at police.

McCarrick is in the Steuben County Jail without bail.
