Two Bath residents have been arrested after their dog died from being left outside in the extreme heat.
According to WETM-TV, 35-year-old Theordre Furia and 31-year-old Nicole Wandell have been charged with failure to provide proper sustenance and appropriate shelter for dogs left outdoors.
Police responded to their home at around 1:30 pm on Monday for a report of animal cruelty.
Animal control had called the police after checking on a report that a dog had been left outside of the home and was displaying signs of heat exhaustion. The dog was dead on the lawn of the property when authorities arrived.
The dog was allegedly left outside on the lawn for a long time without access to clean water or shelter.
The suspects were processed and released to appear in the Bath Village Court at a later date.
