HORSEHEADS — Two businesses are looking to start up legal cannabis operations in the Village of Horseheads.
According to WENY-TV, both businesses are applying for special use permits, which starts with getting approval from the Village Planning Board.
At a meeting on Monday, Upstate Craft Cannabis’ proposal was once again on the planning board’s agenda. The business is looking to open at 3312 South Main Street.
For a second time, the planning board approved Upstate Craft Cannabis’ proposal. It now moves to a vote of the village board on Feb. 12.
Another business looking to open a legal dispensary wants to move into the old Denny’s location at the corner of Chemung Street and Corning Road. It would be called Mooney’s Cannabis Company and is owned by the same person who operates Mooney’s Restaurants in the Twin Tiers.
The application was reviewed by the board, but was ultimately tabled to give them more time to look into the proposal.
