Two juveniles arrested for burglary at Target

The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrests of a 12-year-old and 15-year-old for Burglary in the Third Degree.

On Friday, October 11, at around 1:17 a.m., the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol was assisted by the New York State Police, Village of Horseheads Police Department, and Elmira Heights Police Department in investigating two juveniles inside of Target, in the Town of Big Flats, after hours.

The juveniles ultimately fled the scene on foot, but were located at the Dandy Mini Mart, on County Route 64, in Big Flats, and were subsequently taken into custody.

The Chemung County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division assisted the Road Patrol. Upon entering Target, Deputies observed an extensive amount of damage done to merchandise within Target.

As a result of the investigation, the two juveniles were arrested for Burglary in the Third Degree, a Class D Felony, and Criminal Mischief in the Third Degree, a Class E Felony.

Both juveniles were turned over to their guardians and issued appearance tickets to appear in Family Court at a later date.
