Two women were arrested following a disturbance in Elmira on Thursday.
According to Elmira Police, 21-year-old Dejaneira T. White was charged with criminal mischief in the third degree, a Class E felony, criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree, a Class B felony, and a misdemeanor count of obstruction of government administration.
Police responded to the 200 block of West Water Street at around midnight on Thursday for a report of a physical disturbance in front of a business. When officers arrived, they witnessed White allegedly kicking the front door of a business, breaking the glass on the door.
White was taken into custody following a short foot pursuit.
23-year-old Zyreeta T. Lee-Jackson was also arrested on misdemeanor charges after she allegedly yelled at officers and refused to leave the scene. After she was told she was being arrested, the suspect fled on foot and resisted arrest before being taken into custody.
One officer was injured during the foot pursuit. According to police, additional charges will be coming.
