Van Etten man facing charges following traffic stop

A Van Etten man is facing several charges after he was allegedly found with crystal meth and high-capacity ammo-feeding devices.

According to the New York State Police, 49-year-old Robert J. Durfey has been charged with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a Class C felony, four counts of third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a Class D felony, and a misdemeanor count of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

Troopers pulled over Durfey who was driving with a revoked license, on Main Street near Lewis Street in the Town of Van Etten at about 5:12 pm on Jan. 21.

Police allegedly found what was suspected to be crystal meth, drug paraphernalia and four extended ammunition-feeding devices.

Durfey was arrested without incident and remanded to the Chemung County Jail.
