The Washington Avenue Bridge in Elmira reopened on Wednesday afternoon.
Elmira Police Officers encountered smoke under the bridge at around 4:45 a.m. on Oct. 30th. The bridge had been closed since the fire.
The New York State Department of Transportation and engineering consultants have said the bridge is now safe to reopen to motorists.
