Governor Andrew Cuomo’s administration has announced the latest Citizen Preparedness Training program, and the next training is set to take place in Ithaca this weekend. The program will be held on Saturday at the Statler Hall Auditorium at Cornell University. The Citizen Preparedness program was first launched last month, and looks to provide about 100,000 New Yorkers with the tools and resources to better prepare for emergencies and disasters in the future. The program looks to teach appropriate responses to any disasters, along with recovery to pre-disaster conditions. Last Sunday, a Citizens Preparedness Training Corps program was held at Binghamton University. The sessions in Ithaca will be led by the New York National Guard, who will be working with experts from the Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Services’ Office of Emergency Management. The Office of Fire Prevention and Control will also be on hand. Each participant in the training will receive a free Citizen Preparedness Starter Kit, with one kit given per family.
