Cornell welcomes 14th President

Cornell University’s new president arrived on campus yesterday. Martha Pollack is the university’s 14th president and will be officially inaugurated on Aug. 25. Pollack comes to Cornell from the University of Michigan, where she served as provost and executive vice president for academic affairs. In a message to the community, she said she is happy to be on campus and excited to see the direction that Cornell is going, especially with its expansion efforts in New York City. Pollack takes over as president from Elizabeth Garrett, who passed away in March of last year. She is the second female president in the university’s 152-year history.
