A Cortland County man has been indicted for robbing a KFC on Route 281 in August.
Dennis Alex-Hart allegedly stole more than $3,000 from a safe inside the restaurant on Aug. 20 after forcing three employees inside a cooler.
The robber escaped on a bicycle, setting off a wide-scale manhunt. Alex-Hart was arrested a few days later, only after DNA evidence linked him to the crime. His information was in the system after prior convictions on burglary and rape charges.
Police say they recovered most of the money from the robbery in Alex-Hart’s possession.
The man is being held without bail at the Cortland County Jail.
