A Broome County employee will soon be deployed to Afghanistan.
Broome County Executive Barbara Fiala held a press conference Tuesday to recognize Darlene Croston for her service. The assistant in the county’s executive and budget offices will leave after the holidays for a year-long deployment to Afghanistan.
Croston says she joined the Naval Reserve over four years ago during a midlife crisis.
Fiala says Croston’s job will be waiting for her when she returns.
