Cuomo, Staff, Agree to Pay Cuts

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has announced that he is cutting his own salary.
In an effort to show how serious he is about curbing the state’s spending, the governor announced a plan Monday to cut his $179,000 salary by 5 percent, or nearly $9,000.
Cuomo says Lieutenant Gov. Bob Duffy and the rest of the executive staff will follow suit.
The self-imposed salary cuts were made on the same day that Cuomo announced that he will freeze all pay for state employees in 2011, hoping to start working to close New York’s $9 billion budget deficit.
Gov. Cuomo will outline his other plans in Wednesday’s State of the State Address.
