Just one day after taking the oath of office, Governor Andrew Cuomo took a Sunday morning stroll to attend church with his three daughters and girlfriend by his side.
However, it’s likely these walks down Albany’s Eagle Street will be somewhat of a rarity, as Cuomo will split his time between the Governor’s Mansion in Albany and his home in Westchester County.
In addition to his home in Mount Kisco that he shares with his girlfriend, Food Network host Sandra Lee, Cuomo keeps an apartment in New York City. His three daughters from a past marriage will also continue to live and attend school downstate.
Cuomo will hardly be the first governor to log miles on the Thruway.
His most recent predecessors David Paterson and Eliot Spitzer both spent a majority of their time in New York City.
While George Pataki, who was known to frequent the mansion’s basketball court while in town, spent a large amount of time at his home in Putnam County.
In fact, the last governor to live in Albany full time was Cuomo’s own father Mario, who left office in 1994.
