DEC: New Gas Drilling Regulations by June

SHARE NOW

Acting head of the Department of Environmental Conservation, Joe Martens, expects his Agency to complete its updated rules for gas drilling in June.
At a legislative hearing on Tuesday, he said the state needs to proceed cautiously with hydraulic fracturing, but, he added, the regulations should not wait for a federal EPA study that may take two years.
Gas drilling permits in the Marcellus Shale have been on hold since 2008.
